So after doing the washing machine cleaning, well, technically during the bleach rinse of the process, I decided this should be a stain day. Let's see what works. So I decided to do the dishwasher. Again, I do clean my dishwasher. Not as much as I probably should, but it does get some help every now and then. The only issue I have is that my heating elements get calcium buildup. It bothers me. I'm kind of picky that way though. Anyway...I decided to give this trick a try.
Here's where you get to see the most disgusting thing in my house. The grout on my kitchen floor. As a disclaimer, I do need to say that the people who lived here before us never sealed the white grout they put on the floor in a kitchen. I believe that's just stupid. In the past 8 years, we've tried everything to get and keep the grout clean. We've bleached. We've scrubbed. We've steamed. We've filed, chiseled and ground this stupid grout. We've used 3 different sealers and nothing has worked. I have given up trying. To get it even semi-clean, I need to scrub with a toothbrush. But, since it was the day for stains, and while the dishwasher and washing machine were running, I decided to give it a shot.
Bottom line, when you have unsealed grout, especially white, I don't think anything except scrubbing is going to get it clean. So, a shout out to a friend of mine, you know who you are, get your husband out here to professionally clean this mess, please!
On the same topic, but didn't find it on Pinterest, I did come across a money saving tip that really does work. While in Target, a lady in the laundry aisle started talking to me and she told me that she cuts her dryer sheets in half. She said she had read that half is really all you need. Well, I only use dryer sheets in the winter for static and I have to use the unscented, which are always more expensive, so I decided to try it out. Sure enough, clothes came out perfectly static free. I just doubled my box of fabric softener! Thank you random Target lady! Glad I made a trip down that aisle at that exact moment!
