Dear Mother Nature,
First off, I want you to know how much I appreciate this mild winter. I do keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but that's just who I am. You know how much I despise snow and cold. I appreciate you keeping the weather more like Ireland's in the winter. I can live with this. Only problem I have is the fluctuation of temperature. Let me give you an example. Yesterday, picking Monster up from school, it was 30, but the wind was horrible. Monster and Sunshine wanted to play in the remaining 4 inches of snow we had left from Monday. I told him it was too cold right then, but we could play either later in the afternoon if the wind died down or the next day. By 3:00, the snow was gone. Completely. It warmed up about 15 degrees in less than 3 hours. And the wind stopped. I'm not complaining about the melting snow, but the temperature flux is a little much for me. If this is how it has to be for a nice winter though, I'll adjust. Monster, on the other hand, has a concern about this weather. He believes the mild winter is due to global warming and soon there will not be enough polar ice for the polar bears to survive. He can't understand why everyone doesn't see this. He can't understand why Mommy is singing songs everyday that the weather is beautiful. Each time I tell him is so nice out he replies, "But that's not good. That means the atmosphere is warming up and that's bad for the planet". It seems I have taught my little treehugger a little too well. Each day he reminds me that we must do our part to save the planet and he keeps asking why everyone doesn't do something to help out. Good question. But I digress. So, Mother Nature, if you don't mind, could you please bring on Spring? That way Monster doesn't have to worry so much and we get more even temperatures. Everyone here is getting cabin fever, including me. You know it's bad when I actually enjoy going to pick up dog poop. Thanks for a great winter! Sincerely, The [Rock] Family
