So, when I come across people who are only out for themselves, I don't understand. I truly don't. I don't understand people who think that they deserve what they have plus more simply for existing. I don't understand how people can't want to help those less fortunate or even just help out their friends. I can't understand people who don't care for the environment. I've been asked several times why I recycle since our city has a program where they go through the trash and sort out the recyclables. I've been asked what we get for it. What do we get for it? How about peace of mind knowing that our world is a little cleaner and we're reducing our carbon footprint? Do we really need to GET something from doing it? I don't understand people who try to get every last penny out of purchases they have made in the past. I have been raised, and I'm raising my children the same, that if you don't use/need it anymore, give it to someone who can. If a friend of yours can use it or wants it, give it to them first. After that, give it to charity. I understand people trying to make a buck, I really do, but I don't understand how people can ask for money for things from their friends for things they don't want anymore. It seriously boggles my mind.
We care for our environment. We donate goods to different charities. We buy supplies for different organizations. We pass things along to people who can use them. We take the time to discuss these acts and why they are important. I feel good knowing I'm teaching my kids the right path to becoming generous, compassionate adults.
