This past weekend, he helped out a neighbor with her dog. He's happy to do it. She wanted to pay him for the help. He really did not want payment. So, as a compromise, he asked her to make a donation to the Leukemia/Lymphoma society in his uncle's name. I'm not writing this so everyone can say how great that is, blah, blah, blah. I'm writing it because this is who my kid is. It's who he's always been.
While others of you saw him getting in trouble at school (which was for reading, but no one took the time to see that), he was asking for donations to the Children's Center for his birthdays. While some of you were telling your new neighbors we were an odd family, he was gathering goods for the local food pantry. While some of you were judging him on the fact that he is quiet and not extremely social, he was donating the money he earned working to help endangered species.
Those of you who could never see past the outside, you missed out. The thing is, he actually has the biggest, and most forgiving heart. He will give you another chance, because that's who he is.
