I was supposed to run to the Dollar Store for my mom. The Dollar Store happens to be in the same plaza as K Mart. K Mart happens to be going out of business. I don't know why I'm suddenly drawn to stores I've never gone into just to see what they have on clearance. We've lived in this town for 12 years and I've probably gone into that store 6 times, yet I felt the strong need to go and see what I could get. $55 later, we headed to the Dollar Store. After that, it was on to the grocery store for a couple of items I forgot. I firmly believe it's all because of the fort that my kids were so good for the errands. I even got compliments of their behavior while we were out. When we got home and ate lunch, Sunshine did something I haven't seen her do in a long time....she ATE lunch. It was amazing. Or, maybe it was her refusing to have breakfast.
At nap time, I did something I rarely ever do. I rested. I sat in bed and played video games. I rarely do that. Normally, I use nap time to catch up on email and then get life prepared for the afternoon. I was so nice and relaxed that I even let Monster come and read in bed with me. Unfortunately, that rest time was cut short by a bad dream. Sunshine woke up only after a little more than an hour screaming. So, it was back to the grind. Monster wanted to work more on the fort. Sunshine wanted to help me wash walls. The fort went from two chairs and one quilt to all the dining room chairs as well and three blankets. He was very proud. Sunshine loved scrubbing down walls and was sad when we stopped to go to a friend's house to play and have dinner.
The rest of the day was spent in good company. Very relaxing. Lots of fun! Monster was beat. Sunshine was, well, Sunshine. She goes until she literally drops. This afternoon holds the same fun for us as yesterday did. Nothing really planned for the morning, but several ideas floating around. Letting the kids take the lead has been working the last two days, so I'm willing to keep going with it until that backfires.
