It's so hard for me to believe that today you are 8 years old. I can't remember what life was like without you in it. You are truly my gift from God. I know I tell you that every day, but it's true.
This year has been full of so many wonderful things for you. You started karate only a year ago and you are already a blue belt. You are so proud of yourself, as you should be. I am so proud of you as well. You found something that you truly love to do. This school year has had it's ups and downs, but it's been a learning experience as opposed to a horrible experience like first grade. Sometimes, you are just too smart for your own good. I wish schools were different. I wish they could teach to you on your level. There are ups and downs to being gifted, but I know that you will work through those. Know that Mommy and Daddy will be here through it all. We are proud of you and your educational accomplishments! It's amazing that you are reading at a 10th grade level in 2nd grade and are well above grade level in math as well. I hope that you never lose your love for learning and you continue to seek out knowledge on your own when the schools don't provide you with enough stimulation. You have made some wonderful friendships this year, as well, and I hope those friendships continue to grow.
It hasn't all been fun this year and you have learned some tough life lessons. My hope is that these have made you stronger. You are one resilient little man. You have such a big heart and forgive much more fully and easily than I do. I hope you keep this trait throughout your life.
You are the most amazing kid I've ever known. Every piece of you is uniquely you. Don't ever lose sight of who you are. I love you more than you will ever know. It's you and me, kid, and together, we can do anything.
I love you, always.
Mommy
